D. 202 students in Plainfield are now attending school 5 half days a week

Take a glimpse of their first day back

District 202 students returned to five half-days a week of in-person learning on Wednesday – for families who chose that option.

It’s the greatest amount of in-person learning for the students since the COVID-19 pandemic shut down schools 13 months ago.

In fact, the only issue keeping students from returning for five full days of school is lunch since social distancing and wearing facemasks during lunch aren’t possible, Tom Hernandez, director of community relations at Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202, said in an April 1 Herald-News story.

But band students wore a special facemask while their played their instruments.

Students participated in sewing classes.

And kindergarten teachers are now able to guide their young students in person.
